There were two aces on the night. Jeff Burrow aced hole 3 on his second time through. Just as Jeff was stepping onto the tee for hole 4, Luis Nava aced the same hole. Both players split the $63 ace pot with their partners.

Thanks to Next Adventure for sponsoring the random ace and secret score this season.

Push for the playoffs

Great news - we reached 140 unique players for the season on Tuesday night. This means the top 14 players will make the playoffs. With one week left, it is unlikely that we will reach the 160 player mark to push the cutoff to 16.

Here are the details: Playoffs will occur on Tuesday, August 24th. The top 14 players are eligible. In the event that someone in the top 14 cannot make it, the 15th spot will take his place.

Players who are not eligible for the playoffs can still play on the 24th. For that evening, we will be split into two pools: A (playoffs) and B (non-playoffs). Each group will be playing for their own pool of money. In other words, money collect for the B pool will only be paid out to the B pool. IMPORTANT NOTE: If a B pool team shoots a score that would have cashed in the A pool they will win that cash.

We have collected $180 for the playoff payout this season. Because this money has already been collected, players that are playoff eligible will not have to pay to play on the 24th. Players will still need to check in at sign-up time.

The playoff breakdown is as follows:
1st place team: $100
2nd place team: $50
3rd place team: $30

Complete standings can be found here: http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/Tuesday_Twos_2010/leaderboards

The ace pot will still be in effect. If no aces are hit, we will have a CTP throw off on hole 1. The two closest throws will split the money.

Week 17 recap

33 players tonight. Cloudy, but mostly calm. A little wind during the second round.

Congratulations to Jacob Rogers and Sean Fry who shot -16 and beat Jeff Larson and Luis Nava in a CTP playoff for the win.

No aces tonight. The random ace was hole 8. The secret score was +2.

Complete scores season standings can be found at http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/Tuesday_Twos_2010/leaderboards.

A special thanks goes to our sponsors Rainy Day Games and Next Adventure.

Matt Gillespie aced hole 2 on his second drive of the night to split the $35 ace pot with his partner. Unfortunately, the random ace of the night was hole 4.

The secret score was +1 and was not matched.

Week 15

Week 15 of Tuesday Twos is officially in the books.

We had 38 players tonight. The ace pot started over at $36.00 and was split by two teams: Aaron Hickok hit hole 4 and Randy Hamlin hit hole 5 a little while later.

Randy's ace on 5 also won him the CTP - a copy of Railways of the World, The Card Game donated by Rainy Day Games. Blake Bamford won the CTP on hole 2 and took home a copy of Eco Flux, also donated by Rainy Day Games.

It was a particularly good night for Randy - The Random Ace of the night just happened to be hole 5, so he and his partner both took home a $25 gift certificate to Next Adventure.

Scott Hill and Steve Gelhar just missed the coveted 18 down and finished -17 to take first place.

Week 14 Recap

What an exciting night! A couple of teams took advantage of the calm winds and shot some really hot scores. Andrew Nava and Jason McGrew shot a hot -18 down to take first place, as well as the Next Adventure perfect score bounty. Andrew and Jason each took home a $50 gift certificate to Next Adventure.

Part of Andrew's perfect round was an ace on hole 1 with a Star Max that he bought that very afternoon at Rainy Day Games. Andrew and Jason also took home the ace pot of $39. The moral of the story? Go to Rainy Day Games, buy a disc, get an ace. It's that easy!

Sorry Andrew, the random ace of the night was hole 7. The secret score was +2.

Marko Kollias won the CTP on hole 7, taking home the game Monty Python Flux donated by Rainy Day Games.

The secret score was +3 and was not hit.

What a great summer evening for disc golf. A little windy, but that didn't stop Randy Hamlin and Will Odom from shooting a -16 to grab the win.

It was a big night for Will - he also took a CTP on hole one when he aced it with a Champion Spider. In addition to the $32 ace pot, Will took home a Fly-Dye Champion Starfire donated by Rainy Day Games. In other CTP action, first time Tuesday Two'r Jayre (JR) Parker won a Wizard Mini donated by Andrew Nava on hole 4. Week 9 Recap

After a stormy day, the rain stopped about five minutes before sign-ups and never came back. Mostly clear skies and no wind makes for some pretty low scores - Two -16s threw off for first, -14 grabbed last cash, and -10 was only good enough for last place. Nice shooting, everybody!

Congratulations to Matt Roller and Johnny Lamotte who edged out Jeff Larson and Eric Medley in the CTP throw-off to take first place and $43.00.

Karl Denfeld parked hole 8 with a Leopard to win a Champion Groove donated by Scott Hill.

Matt Gillispie hit a ~40' putt with a KC Pro Aviar on hole two to win a disc golf goody bag (BSF mug, assorted stickers, clip board, pencils, sharpie, and marker disc) donated by Scott Hill.

Thanks to our sponsors Next Adventure, Rainy Day Games, Stumptown Disc Golf Club, Chris Graham, and Tim Price. Thanks also to everyone who made it out this week. See you next week!

Week One Recap

Week one is in the books. We had 35 players who endured a cloudy and windy night. There were a couple of sprinkles here and there, but we managed to stay dry.

There were no aces, so $33.00 and the Rainy Day Games first ace Roc will carry over to next week.

Jordan Yent won the CTP on hole 1: A Stumptown prize pack (Crystal Z Buzzz, mini, patch, and sticker).

Jason Hicks had the longest putt on hole 9 and won a 20th Anniversary Echo Roc courtesy of Rainy Day Games.

The secret score was -2 and was won by Annie Bailey and Rebecca Verrette. They both win a $25.00 gift certificate to Next Adventure.

The random ace of the night was hole 8.

Finally!

We're finally here. Tuesday. Could today go any slower?

There's one more suprise to announce: Rainy Day Games has donated a 20th Anniversary Echo Star Roc that will be awarded to the first person to grab an ace this year. Will it be tonight? Next week? Week 5? Who knows. You'd better get that ace early, just to be sure.

See you tonight!

A few changes

I've made a few minor changes to the format this year:

1) $10.00 will be kept out of each weeks payout and be saved for the finals. $10.00 x 18 weeks means there will be a pot of at least $180 to play for in the final week. The weekly payout and ace pot will be slightly smaller, but not too noticeable.

2) The playoffs will be expanded to include roughly 10% of the total field for the season, with a minimum of 12 players. If 160 unique players play at least one event, there will be 16 players eligible for the playoffs the final week. The only catch - you must play at least 10 weeks to make the playoffs. Last year we had 190 unique players. I'd love to see at least 200 this year, which would expand the playoffs to the to 20.

3) The A/B pool format that was used last year will be eliminated. All pairings will be chosen completely at random. Pairings will be drawn on the spot. A certified auditor* will be on hand to ensure that everything is 100% random.

*Probably not. But there will be 54 players ready to flog me if they detect anything shady. Believe me, that's enough.

We're only one day away. Final preparations are being made. I've got one more surprise in store, but I think I'll save that for tomorrow. I hope everyone is as excited as I am.
